The 75th Anniversary of the Windrush Generations

Project Brief: I was tasked with designing packaging and campaign assets for the 75th Anniversary of the Windrush Generations, ensuring a celebratory theme that reflects their journey, while being mindful of sensitive topics and avoiding certain representations, imagery, and language.

Rationale: The design focused on accurately portraying the factual story of the Windrush Generations, rather than emotional representation, by collaborating with three subject matter experts. The imagery used was of the Empire Windrush arriving at Tilbury in 1948, ensuring it was inclusive and historically accurate. As Valda Jackson, the coin designer, is a member of the Windrush generation, it was fitting to incorporate her coin design, ensuring consistency across packaging and campaign assets while maintaining neutrality for interpretation.
